Willem Pieterse

Willem Pieter Pieterse, B.Optom (UJ), CAS (NECO), is a South African optometrist based in Wilropark, Roodepoort, with nearly 20 years of clinical experience in private practice.

He has a special interest in dry eye disease management, advanced specialty contact lens fitting, and ocular surface pathology. His clinical practice focuses on the management of keratoconus, post-surgical irregular corneas, complex ocular surface disease, diabetic eye care, and ocular vascular pathology.

Recognising the close relationship between ocular surface health and successful specialty contact lens wear, Willem has dedicated a significant amount of time to advancing the diagnosis and management of dry eye disease. He has actively worked to introduce modern dry eye management strategies into private optometric practice and regularly presents educational lectures and workshops to fellow optometrists on contemporary dry eye diagnostics, eyelid pathology, meibomian gland dysfunction, and evidence-based treatment approaches.
