Charl van Zyl

Charl qualified with a B.Optom degree in 2008 at the University of the Free State in South Africa. 

In November 2008 he joined Arnold van der Wat & Associates, an independent private practice in the western suburbs of Port Elizabeth.

Since 2015, Charl and his partners joined the KFML brand and subsequently own a few Execuspecs and Spec-Savers practices.

Charl has been actively involved in mentoring and training graduates in the Spec-Savers graduate programme, which involves clinical lectures and practical workshops. He has also lectured and presented on several topics at university level as well as Congresses. He developed a passion for contact lenses after being mentored by industry leaders in South Africa.

He is married with two children and in his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, exercise, DYI projects and does some sound engineering on the odd occasion. He has completed a few Cape Town Cycle Tours, a few Half Ironman Triathlons and on his bucket-list, is to do a full Ironman and Comrades Marathon one day.
